Hypnotherapy

As a proven successful way of changing behaviour, hypnotherapy is used routinely to treat: anxiety, addictions, lack of confidence, fears, phobias, panic attacks, weight control, eating disorders, trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, stopping smoking, depression, prolonged grief, nail-biting; stammering, nervousness, examination nerves, stage fright, shyness and many other conditions. It is also an effective treatment for conditions such as asthma, high blood pressure, IBS etc. and can be used before and during childbirth (with the consent of your doctor/midwife) and prior to and during dental/medical treatment. It is also effective in improving sports performance, presentation skills, enhancing existing talents etc.

Hypnotherapy is successful because it works at the belief level of our consciousness. When we believe something to be true it influences our behaviour. For example, one of the reasons that diet plans do not achieve permanent weight loss is because the root cause of the weight gain is not addressed by cutting calories alone. When invalid and limiting beliefs about food, healthy eating and personal appearance are replaced, achieving a healthy and permanent weight loss becomes natural and effortless.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION?

During a hypnotherapy session, I will guide you into a state of deep relaxation similar to when you are engrossed in a favourite book or TV programme. Once relaxed I will use a variety of appropriate methods to help you to alter your beliefs and behaviour patterns. Improvements are usually noticed quickly although a course of sessions is recommended.

CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTISED?

The vast majority of people enter the state of hypnosis easily. Clients who have never been hypnotised are not always aware that they are completely in control of how deeply they "go under" and whether they allow themselves to be hypnotised at all. The state of hypnosis is simply a different level of awareness; clients are still aware of being in the room and of outside noises - they are just deeply relaxed.

IS IT SAFE?

It is not possible to hypnotise someone against their will nor would suggestions be accepted by you that are not part of your moral code of ethics which means that hypnotherapy is an extremely safe method for changing behaviour.

THE TECHNIQUES USED DURING THERAPEUTIC SESSIONS ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM THOSE USED BY STAGE HYPNOTISTS.
